The Process

Here we go over the simple procedure that will get your project running as smooth as possible.

Strategize

We’ll start by discussing your project and go through the brand assets. We'll do a small brainstorm to narrow down our approach. Don’t worry, most people don’t know what they want until they see it and is the reason they look for a professional freelance presentation designer.

Sync Up

This is where I start to mock up a few pages to give you an overview of my design direction based on our discussion. The more detail from step 1 - the closer we can get to the look you want. I don’t start on step 3 until you’re completely happy with the direction we're heading.

Ship Out

This is where I get to crunching all your data and turn them into beautiful and easily consumable talking points. When complete, I’ll send you a file to review. If the slides look great, I’ll wrap everything up in a final, editable format and send everything over.

FAQ

Why choose you over everyone else?

There is no sense in doing anything if you don’t intend on having it done right. A great deal of self-proclaimed Powerpoint specialists do not come from a design background. Form and function is important but you’re looking for that type of quality that can only come from someone with a mastery of PowerPoint as well as having an eye for creative communication. While many deck developers cater to your needs, I design and prioritize specifically for your audience.

Freelance presentation designers with a storied history of Fortune 500 corporate level skills in creative communication are extremely rare in this industry. While many may understand the process of development, very few have the creative talent for design. Even fewer have the capacity to do both at a very high level. This is where I come in.

While presentation design is my professional niche, my origin story includes layers of specific design specialization including corporate branding, website design, packaging design, marketing material design, as well as high-end product photography, and 3D rendering – conveniently making me a one-stop design shop for a great deal of my current and potential clients.

Graphic design is a field that is all encompassing of the many varied creative specializations. You’d be surprised to know that most graphic designers do not use/understand PowerPoint. Nearly all graphic designers loathe the application, in fact.

PowerPoint is considered to be the black sheep when it comes to design software. Most designers do not consider it to be a legitimate design tool. I agree that PowerPoint is a very poor design tool. It is, however, by far the most superior presentation software on the market and is the undeniable industry standard.

The reason why you shouldn’t hire any graphic designer to work on your presentation is because they barely understand the limited design aspect of the application and have no idea how to take advantage of the horsepower behind the presentation architect. Sadly, you may lack the expertise to tell the difference when all is done. I can assure you, the money you put into that investment will not result in equal return in value.

This depends heavily on the type of content and the amount of slides. Typically, it can take up to 7 days to complete a 40-slide deck if you do not book and block my schedule in advance. We can discuss options if you’re in a hurry.

I get it, this happens rather frequently. Depending on the availability of my schedule, I can move other projects and my own personal schedule around to queue you up sooner. There will be a rush fee to consider in this case. I’m not new to tackling over 100 slides overnight.

Feel free to reach out to me and I’ll do everything I can to help.

You are welcome to send your content already on slides or in outline format. If you have a specific vision for a particular slide, simply include an inspirational graphic or description of your vision to maximize efficiency and reduce turnaround time.

  • Your logo(s) in EPS, SVG, AI format, or high resolution PNG with transparent background. Please, no JPG unless this is absolutely all you have.
  • Brand or style guides, website, and/or style reference you’d like me to design against.
  • Image files you’d like to see in your slides – I can also procure this if you don’t have any/enough.
  • Data, stats, and copy in a text format (such that I can copy and paste).

If you have trouble providing any of these, don’t worry – I’m here to help.

During the preliminary stage of finding the look and feel for your deck, I will draft 3-5 slides for you to review. You have unlimited full range edits/redesign during this preliminary stage to find the right design style. Once you are happy with the preliminary slides, we will move forward with the full deck.

After reviewing the full deck, you will have unlimited minor edits that include copy changes, simple layout changes, and image or media replacements. An addition slide will be invoiced should the requested change is deemed to be a redesign.

If you do not have a style guide, I can follow your website style to ensure consistency of your brand.

If you do not have a website or it does not currently reflect the direction you’d like to go, feel free to send any other designs or examples you may have or like. Alternatively, I can propose a design that represents your brand.

Should you need a website or brand guide created, I offer those services as well!

For first time clients there will be a 50% deposit at the start of the project. I’m sorry, but I cannot move forward without verification with the exception that you are referred by another reputable client.

At the end of the project, I’ll send you an invoice through Quickbooks for the remaining balance that you can pay online. Returning clients will only be invoiced at the end of the project.

Large projects of $10k or more will always require a 50% deposit before we begin.

Not necessarily. For most projects there will not be a fee for stock images as this and other perks are already built into the Base Designer Fee. Additional charges are only considered if the amount of stock photos needed are considered significant.

I use Shutterstock to license photography. Those assets are licensed to me so if you are going to use them in the public domain it will be your responsibility to license them to you or your company.

Sourcing files from your large archive of assets without clear direction to find them may incur a separate Archivist fee.

We will begin the project with a creative direction, which is 3-5 designed slides, to ensure that I am the right designer for your project and that we efficiently get to a presentation that truly impresses. If I am unable to create a design that you like during that process, you will not be charged.

If there are a few slides that need additional revisions at the end of the project, I am happy to provide those to ensure you love the final product.

Please also see “FAQ: How many revisions do I get?”.

Absolutely! There may be occasional design elements that are created outside of Powerpoint and imported in. Those individual asset will be included separately but they aren’t editable without the proper design tools. They will, however, be moveable.

All text is created in PowerPoint so you can easily edit them. In the end, if you decide to work with another designer in the future, you will have everything from me for a smooth transition.

I can communicate with you in whichever fashion you prefer. Most of my clients prefer email, but I am happy to collaborate with you in Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Telegram, Skype, Zoom, or any other platform that is in your workflow.

That’s not a problem at all. Just let me know when we start working together and I’ll place a note in your client file to keep your content out of my portfolio.

As a Freelance Presentation Designer, Graphic Artist, and Photographer, I am firmly accustomed to working closely with sensitive information. Confidentiality is my number one priority.

Additionally, if you would like for me to sign an NDA, I’d be happy to do so.
